The midi skirt! The trendy cut that flatters everyone, a nipped in waist and sophisticated hem line make a midi a perfect transitional day- to- night or work -to -play piece. A good midi skirt will see you through all four seasons- which we may experience in one spring day here in Parsons! Fear not your hemline blowing up on a windy day, the best part of a midi skirt is the length. Short enough to be sexy, but not so short a gust of wind blow up your skirt a la Marilyn Monroe while you cross the street. (It happens to the best of us, ladies). We’re here to give you the skinny on spring fashion and styling this must have piece.
Who can wear a midi skirt? EVERYONE. Yes, even you shorties! I hear a lot of gals say “I’m too short for a midi it’s basically a maxi on me”- not true! Ladies, a tailor is your best friend. Take that midi to a dry cleaner ,get it hemmed for a few dollars, and seize the day. Or just chuck on a pair of heels for some quick added length. Curvy? Slim? The midi’s nipped in waist accentuates every figure.
Heels always elevate a midi skirt- but how else can we style this wardrobe staple? Spring is unpredictable and the ultimate transitional styling challenge. We’re here to take your midi from frosty March mornings to balmy May nights.
When those first warm spring days hit, midi season is in full tilt! Spring fashion is what we live for- so a good pair of wedges and cropped jacket is a MUST. Straw wedges or nude chunky sandals pair perfectly with Gia Rose’s blush-tonedleopard midi skirt. This versatile piece is sweet but sassy, in a pretty millennial pink with cheeky leopard spots. Dress it up with wedges or down with sneakers. I love it paired with a casual rock tee like ourrock & roll graphic tee. Make it posh for brunch with some funky pumps, or just run your errands like a rockstar with a pair of converse.
But alas, spring hasn’t sprung yet, and we aren’t likely to see our first sundress sightings for some time. We’ve got you girl, and are here to get you and your midi through the chilly part of spring with our favorite transitional pieces.
Baby it’s cold outside, but you won’t be when you rock your midi with cute leather booties and a leather jacket! Pair it with one of ourvintage rock tees for an edgy vibe. I love leather (or faux leather, let’s be real leather isn’t in my budget) as a transitional piece for spring. You’ll stay warm, and get extra mileage out of those boots you had to have for Christmas.
Another great way to stay warm but look springy in a midi skirt is to grab one of those trendy oversized sweaters our insta feeds seem to be full of. My personal favorite is theLike a Star sweater- if you’re gonna go big oversized sweater, go BIG- with this large, bold star design. I like to tuck mine into my tailored midi, push up the sleeves and pair it with a stack of bangles. If you’re thinking “ugh oversized is NOT my thing”- fear not, we have this sassy, versatilecropped chenille sweater that you won’t even need to tuck in. Finish the look with some bright or textured tights to take it from “errand running” to “runway”.
Now armed with ways to slay your midi game, cozy up inside away from this February chill, dream of spring fashion’s return, and add to cart.
xoxo,
Gia Rose Tribe
