3 Ways to Style a Traditional Button Down

If you don’t own one, you should: A classic button down shirt. There are many “guides” out there that requires a white button down as a staple in your wardrobe and I agree, but it’s Springtime and we’re ready to add some color so why not do that white a light blue?! A light blue is still neutral enough to go with any color palette, but is also not as basic as stark white. No hate to the white button down, I treasure mine.

One of the greatest things about traditional button down shirts is that there are a multitude of ways that they can be styled and worn other than the regular tucked in work blouse. For example, I love to pair a white button down with leather leggings, Sloan grabbed one to wear as a coverup for the lake! One of our models, Gwyn saw the simplest blue button down in the store and immediately wanted to try some different ways to wear it. It’s going to be a Spring staple in her closet. That’s the great thing about working with a diverse group of ladies, we all see one item and see a million different ways to wear and style it.

Traditional Wear

Gwyn is seen here wearing a button down casually with her distressed denim shorts. This look is perfect for Spring and especially for Summer. Add some studded sandals to this look and a sunhat and you’re ready for casually strolling the farmer’s market on a Saturday morning with an iced coffee in hand.

Tie it Up!

Tying the front up and pairing it with a mini skirt dresses this shirt up for a night out with the girls or date night with your guy! Add some wedges or platform sandals and some gold layered necklaces and a low ponytail for a chic and effortless look. Rolling up the sleeves makes it more warm weather friendly.

Sass it Up!

This look is one for the books! You can barely recognize that this is a classic button down and wasn’t made to be a one-shouldered masterpiece. How fun is this paired with a denim skirt for a night out?! It’s pretty easy to accomplish, you slip off one side of the shirt and wrap it around your torso and knot it and tuck it inside the buttons. Add some dangly statement earrings and you’re ready to dance the night away or at least look chic as can be.
